Role
Located in the Public Engagement Department (PED), the Fundraising team plays a key role in developing opportunities for supporter engagement. We have big ambitions for the strategic period from a mix of Philanthropy, Individual Giving, and Community Fundraising.
Set within the Fundraising team, Philanthropy comprises this role and a Research & Trusts Fundraising Officer jointly focused on increasing our knowledge of and relationships with trusts and foundations (including family charitable trusts), private corporate bodies and major donors to grow income to £1m p.a. by 2025.
This role will be based in our Glasgow office; although a degree of flexibility can be offered in terms of where and when this role is undertaken.
Who we’re looking for
This is a unique opportunity for a motivated philanthropy specialist, to help shape a fundraising programme with real potential. You will be able to negotiate and personally solicit donations, be used to working with relationship databases, running stewardship programmes for high-net-worth individuals, and be conversant with GDPR. Your superb relationship-building skills and excellent communication abilities will help you identify and secure the support of major individual philanthropists for SCIAF’s work. You will also identify opportunities and influence senior stakeholders internally and externally to maximise these opportunities.
As the leader of a small team, we are looking for a high-performing individual with initiative and enthusiasm, someone flexible and responsive, who can use creativity and strong problem-solving skills to help us reach our goals.
You will also have effective management skills as well as the ability to interact well with staff at all levels in the organisation.

Killin, Callander and District Search and Rescue Group, a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) known as “Killin Mountain Rescue Team (KMRT)” was established in 1967.
Mountain Rescue is a voluntary service, with members giving up free time to train and respond to people in difficulty on the mountains and other remote locations. The team maintains its original policy of keeping a local membership who provide the local knowledge and skills necessary to provide quick response and resolution to incidents in the areas our members live and work in.
The Team is facing an exciting future with ambitious plans for recruitment, training and ensuring the organisation has the depth of skill, processes and procedures to operate safely and effectively on the hills.

The Role
This is a rare opportunity to lead a talented group of Trustees and Operational Managers who have a progressive strategy which they deliver by providing inclusive and inspiring leadership to the team members and supporters.
The Chair will work closely with and hold the Board of Trustees and Operational Managers to account for KMRT’s mission and purpose, providing leadership to the Board of Trustees. The Chair will enable and encourage each Trustee to fulfil their duties and responsibilities towards effective governance and advancement of the charity’s purpose and values. The Chair will coordinate and optimise strength and expertise of the Trustees, Operational Managers and Team Members so the charity can remain effective but also grow and develop as required.
The Person
KMRT is looking for an experienced, inspirational and credible leader, who brings excellent communication, people skills and governance experience. They would have an inclusive leadership style which creates a culture where everyone can be ‘their best self’, open to feedback and input and committed to supporting this inspirational charity.
It is not essential that the person is local to our operating area, whilst it would be very beneficial given the location of Board meetings, we are open to a hybrid working model. We will support the new Chair with an understanding of the location and terrain we operate in, and a commitment to support their understanding of mountain pursuits and the work we carry out.
Experience
- Experience of operating at a senior level either as an office bearer or Chair/Vice Chair.
- Experience of working with the voluntary and charity sector.
- Experience of chairing meetings, events or Boards; recognising and leveraging the strengths of the collective, ensuring all voices are heard and guiding decision making when there isn’t a consensus.
Knowledge and Skills
Essential
- Good understanding of the Charity sector including governance, good practice and legal responsibilities.
- Strong leadership skills, with an ability to motivate and bring people together.
- An ability to maintain good and foster new relationships with partner organisations and stakeholders.
Desirable
- Experience of fundraising for charitable purposes, including marketing and the use of social media.
- An interest in or someone who participates in hill or mountain activities

This is an unremunerated role, however Travel and Subsistence monies are reimbursable for attendance at Board meetings. KMRT operate between Callander and Tyndrum, our Board meetings are held either in Callander, Lochearnhead or Killin

Geeza Break is a successful voluntary organisation whose main aim is to achieve improved health and well-being of individuals, families and their children by providing family support and flexible respite services to parents with children aged 0-16 years, predominantly within the East/North East in Glasgow. We are run by a voluntary Management Board.
The services we offer are intended to be short-term flexible support to families experiencing addiction, stress, crisis or isolation. These services set out to achieve a set of aims for both the family and children.
Due to the retirement of the current post holder, the opportunity has arisen for our voluntary Board of Directors to appoint a new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) who shares our ethos and will above all be committed to Geeza Break’s values and achieving our aims.
Our CEO supports and provides strategic and operational leadership to our staff management team and will have overall responsibility for managing and developing Geeza Break, in response to the wishes of our voluntary Board of Directors. We would welcome applications from candidates who believe they have the necessary skills and experience to take on this challenging but very rewarding role and who believe they can fit well into our existing culture.
A care or charity background is not necessary to be successful in our CEO’s role but the selected candidate must have excellent strategic and operational leadership skills gained in a comparable organisation.

The key competencies our CEO needs to have are:
Minimum of at least 5 years’ senior management experience is essential including working and having responsibility for developing, influencing, and managing organisational policy decisions within a comparable organisation.
Experience of working effectively with and reporting to a voluntary Board of Directors. You should also be able to demonstrate your ability to produce, interpret and present relevant statistical information.
Experience of working directly with the community and involvement in community projects, of a substantial permanent nature as well as of implementing organisational change programmes/projects and in making improvements to enhance performance.
Educated to SVQ level 4 in management or equivalent and be a skilled leader with financial, budgetary development and management experience, including dealing with HR.
An ability to work on your own initiative, problem solve and plan your time effectively to meet deadlines. You will need excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to develop and maintain positive relationships at all levels of the organisation.
Experience in negotiating with funding and regulatory bodies and public speaking would be considered desirable.

What Is the Role?
Our vision for VSS is a truly person-centred organisation that meets the needs of all victims and witnesses and uses its evidence and insight to influence stakeholders to develop and deliver best practice in supporting victims and witnesses of crime across the justice system. This role is critical to that vision, leading the organisation’s work in policy development, communications, research and evidence, stakeholder engagement and fundraising.

Working with the Chief Executive and Executive Leadership Team, you will work on strategic and operational issues facing Victim Support Scotland, providing key direction and expertise for the organisation. You will deputise for the CEO as and when required.
You will develop and implement a sector leading external-facing corporate communications and public affairs strategy, building influential and impactful relationships with government, funding agencies and other charity and media partners
You will have responsibility for leading the management of strategic reviews, planning processes and impact analysis.
We are looking for someone with a proven track record of leading high performing teams and an ability to translate strategy into delivery.
