This is an exciting opportunity for a creative and committed individual with a strong and lively Christian faith (*) to work alongside us as we meet the challenge of delivering our Mission Plan going forward
We are looking to develop our ministerial team, working along with our elders and congregation to further the aims of Palmerston Place Church, specifically to:
- Share in leading worship services as required.
- Support ministry to our children, young people and their families.
- Share in the pastoral and outreach & discipleship work at Palmerston Place Church.
This is intended to be a full-time position based in the Church Office.

We are looking for a proactive Senior Caretaker to help care for our buildings and to ensure they are safe, well-presented and ready for various church activities and events. You will be willing to work evenings and weekends and able to undertake a variety of minor maintenance tasks. If you have previously worked as a Janitor or Caretaker, this role may be for you. This opportunity will suit someone who enjoys practical tasks and is looking for a job with flexible hours.
About the role
The key objective is to ensure that our buildings (Principally the Church building and 40 York Place, but also offices at 10 and 12 Broughton Street) are prepared, set up and well maintained for a variety of services, meetings, and events. You will also be responsible for training casual caretaking and events team members to assist you with the above.
An important part of the role is to work on Sundays to ensure buildings are set up for our three church services and children’s groups. You will be involved in changing over room set ups between services and will be on hand to support the Ministry Team.

We are looking for an experienced and passionate Head of Counselling to lead and develop this highly-regarded Service. You will lead a team, oversee around 15 committed volunteers and ensure we deliver a safe, professional and effective service to a range of clients. The role is an excellent opportunity for the right person.

The Head of Counselling has a key role:
- Managing and delivering counselling service.
- Ensuring robust governance of the service.
- Working with the church leadership team to ensure there is strong interface with other church ministries and that the counselling service is integral part of its vision and strategy
The Counselling Service is a member of the Association of Christian Counsellors and adheres to their statement of faith and code of conduct.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Lead and manage Ps & Gs Counselling Service.
- Manage Counselling Staff team.
- Oversee a team of volunteer counsellors.
- Provide support and guidance to both qualified and student counsellors.
- Ensure all qualified and student counsellors receive required level of supervision.
- Offer supervision as appropriate.
- Hold a personal caseload.
- Plan a programme of CPD for the team.
- Take the professional lead in reviewing/updating counselling policies and practices.
- Lead and supervise the development and implementation of all operational business plans and service improvement.
- Lead on the recruitment and induction of volunteer trainee and qualified counsellors and volunteer receptionists.
- Attend staff prayers and other staff meetings each week and establish working relationships with the wider staff team.
- Report annually to Vestry.
- You will be responsible for the budgets for the counselling service, under the direction of the Finance Team.
- Ensure team have regular safeguarding training and all safeguarding guidelines are followed.
- Follow GDPR guidelines and ensure IT is used responsibly, including safe storage and appropriate retention of client information.
- With the Support of the Counselling Advisory group, ensure a pattern of review for governance, best practice, guidance and procedures.

Working with older people from the congregation and wider community.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and relational individual to work in a pastoral role with older people. As well as working with church members the intent is also to look outward missionally to the wider community. The post is funded by the TOR Christian Foundation.
The role is interesting, wide-ranging, and requires a broad range of skills. Key aspects are:
- Co-ordinating the provision of regular activities for older people
- Creating fellowship opportunities for older people
- Planning and leading mid-week worship for older people
- Offering spiritual and pastoral care for older church members
- Organising and training volunteers
The post is suitable for a suitably experienced and qualified non-ordained person, or alternatively for an ordained minister or deacon.
