Crisis is the national charity for people experiencing homelessness. We know that homelessness is not inevitable. We
know that together we can end it.
It is an exciting and important time to be joining us at Crisis. We work with thousands of people across England,
Scotland and Wales so they can leave homelessness behind for good. We have recently adapted the way our services
work to maximise our impact in ending homelessness. We have increased our capacity to work with people one to
one and also strengthened our ability to support those people facing the most barriers to preventing or ending
their homelessness.
About the role
As an Engagement & Assessment Worker, you will be the first point of contact for someone who comes to Crisis for
help to end their homelessness. You will build relationships to identify both the strengths and support needs of
the individual. You will work intensively with people to help stabilise their housing situation as well as
identifying opportunities for them to access the wider Crisis service offer, including our Coaching and
Strengths & Assets services, to end their homelessness for good.
About you
The successful candidate will:
- be passionate and dedicated about ending homelessness
- have a good knowledge of Scottish housing and
homelessness legislation
- have a good knowledge of issues affecting homeless people, including housing,
welfare issues, trauma, substance use, involvement in criminal justice services, and social
isolation
- have a proven track record of successfully using coaching, IAG or psychologically informed
approaches with people who have experience homelessness
- skills and experience of partnership working and
networking
- be flexible and adaptable to change
- be a strong team player, able to use their own
initiative and reflect on their own practice
You may have previous experience in the voluntary or statutory sector with a focus on working alongside marginalised
people or groups.
