About the role:

Are you a strong communicator and creative thinker with a flair for innovation who is focused and passionate about changing the lives of children and their families? We have a unique opportunity for an Operational Director of Children's Services to support the management and delivery in and across various locations in Scotland. This is an exciting and rewarding role with the opportunity to make a huge personal impact.

As a member of the senior management team the successful applicant will provide local strategic and operational direction. Through the effective operational delivery, retention, and development of a range of service clusters you will ensure that all quality, safety, budgetary and performance standards are met and improved. You will be responsible for ensuring that services meet commissioners' expectations and contractual requirements and to keep children at the centre of everything that we do.

How you will help our Young People:

  • By being responsible for providing leadership and overall management of a range of services in a designated area and or function.
  • By providing clear accountability to ensure quality, safety, reputation, financial health, and performance management of services.
  • By being a direct line and overall management responsibility for a range of senior professional and support staff located across a defined area/function.
  • To deliver on key performance indicators and utilise performance analysis
  • By being responsible for the effective performance of contract management arrangements and ensuring effective governance.
  • By ensuring sustainability and business growth targets within a designated area are delivered.

What are we looking for from you:

  • Relevant professional qualification in Education, Health, or Social care.
  • Where the post holder is the Responsible Person/Nominated Individual/Regulated Person then they must possess the professional qualification of DIPSW (or equivalent) and 3 years post qualification
  • Management qualification or working towards S/NVQ level 5 in management or DMS leading to MBA.
  • Evidence of substantial experience of working with children, young people and or families gained at a senior managerial
  • Proven success of leading and managing a multi-disciplined workforce to achieve challenging outcomes for children, young people, and families. Proven experience of delivering to achieve financial margins and income targets.
  • Nurturing and building relationships, partnerships with commissioners, peer group/sector management, to support service and business growth.
