SWAN is a dynamic, rapidly growing, unique and ground-breaking Charity.
As an Autistic People’s Organisation (APO), we are run by and for autistic people in Scotland, with autistic staff and volunteers and a majority of autistic people on our Board.
We are the only Charity in Scotland focused on autistic women, girls, and non-binary people.
Founded in 2012, SWAN was run entirely on a voluntary basis until 2019, when funding was obtained from Scottish Autism, to put SWAN on a sustainable footing. SWAN also has grants from the Scottish Government and the Health and Social Care Alliance and is supported by Inspiring Scotland.
SWAN is governed by a Board of Trustees, who are responsible for ensuring that the Charity is well-managed in line with its vision, mission and values and that it abides by its charitable objectives. Our Board of Trustees comprises a range of individuals from across Scotland who bring wide perspectives from different sectors of life and ensure that the organisation maintains a clear focus on our strategic objectives and vision.
2022, is our 10th anniversary and a time of exciting change and growth at SWAN and we are seeking a new CEO to lead us in this next phase of our journey.

The CEO provides leadership in the delivery of its service operations, financial management and administration.
Working closely with the Board of Trustees to develop SWAN’s strategy, the CEO translates the strategy into actionable goals and leads the delivery of these through organisation-wide goal setting, performance management, and annual operating planning.
