Role
An exciting opportunity has arisen to lead our team as Chair of Women’s Aid Orkney. Women’s Aid Orkney offers a range of services to support women and children impacted by domestic abuse. Our Board of Trustees is appointed on a voluntary basis, with the Chair role involving five hours of commitment each month on average. The chair role is not restricted to live in Orkney.
Key duties include:
- Providing leadership to the Board and Women’s Aid Orkney team, including building a strong working relationship with the Service Manager
- Working with Trustees to provide strategic direction for the charity and its services
- Ensuring the Board fulfils its duties and responsibilities for effective governance
- Ensuring the Board regularly reviews and manages risks and associated opportunities
- Being an ambassador, including representing Women’s Aid Orkney with partners, key stakeholders and the media
- Planning and leading monthly virtual Trustee meetings, encouraging effective and efficient decision making
- Monitoring the implementation of decisions made at Trustee meetings.
We're looking for someone with:
- Passion and motivation to make a difference for women and children impacted by domestic abuse
- Strong leadership skills, whether in a voluntary or work capacity
- Excellent communication skills, with strong networking and relationship building abilities
- Ability to encourage a collaborative working environment
- Time to conduct the role well.

Would you like to help us improve the lives of women, children and young people who experience domestic abuse in East Ayrshire? Do you have a willingness to learn, share your skills and work as part of a team? If the answer to these questions is yes, then you might be interested in becoming a Director of East Ayrshire Women’s Aid.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a team delivering vital support to vulnerable women, children and young people in East Ayrshire. You do not need to know everything there is to know about domestic abuse, but we do need to know that you are reliable and committed to our principles and values.
The position is voluntary, but we will provide you with training and support and pay your expenses. We meet at least six times a year, usually on Saturday mornings. We welcome applications from women from all sections of the community.
Fife Alcohol Support Service (FASS) is Fife’s main third sector alcohol and substance misuse charity. FASS has been working on the frontline, supporting people through their issues with misuse and on to better lives for over 40 years now. Our many services range from therapeutic counselling to practical support, and we help individuals, their families and communities Fife-wide.

The Rape & Sexual Abuse Centre Perth & Kinross are looking for a highly motivated and committed worker with experience of providing therapeutic support to join our team. This post involves the provision of therapeutic support, information and advocacy services for survivors age 12+ and their family members. Experience of delivering emotional therapeutic, practical support and advocacy services to women and/ young people affected by trauma is essential, alongside experience of assessing and responding to risk in relation to sexual abuse and exploitation. RASAC P&K welcome applications from women of all backgrounds and identities, in particular women of colour and those underrepresented in the workforce.
