We currently have an opportunity for a Volunteer Development Worker to join our Volunteer Team based in Edinburgh. As Volunteer Development Worker, and working closely with other members of the Volunteer Team and development staff, you will help promote volunteer opportunities, improve the volunteering experience within Bield and promote the value of volunteering in order to extend and develop our volunteer services.
This is a fixed term contract until 31 December 2019.
You will be responsible for liaising with local staff to develop and plan volunteering involvement and play a key role in recruiting volunteers as well as supporting and advising local staff in selecting, supporting and managing volunteers. You will undertake local networking with other volunteering agencies, develop and facilitate volunteer training and develop and implement local volunteer support networks. Above all you will bring a commitment to the ethos of volunteering and a genuine interest in enhancing the quality of life of older people.
The successful candidate must have strong interpersonal skills, good verbal and written communication skills and good organisation in order to plan and prioritise workload. In addition, well-developed administration and IT skills are also an essential requirement. The ideal candidate will have previous experience of recruiting, supervising and training volunteers or staff.
