Pathways to Confidence COVEY
‘Pathways to Confidence’ is an innovative partnership project with COVEY BEFRIENDING and Bellshill YMCA. The focus of the project is on mentoring and befriending through supporting the whole family, to ensure positive longer term outcomes for young people aged 8-14.
We seek an authentic individual who has the ability to join our Family Support team. Character is our key requirement, as we believe that through this your competence will be effectively applied. So, aligning with our core values of Passion, Innovation, Commitment, Openness and Respect, we want someone with the drive and enthusiasm to embrace this role and and bring creative solutions where needed.
You should be a passionate and caring individual who will be directly working with vulnerable parents/carers, to ensure good outcomes are met for both them and their children. A flexible, innovative approach is necessary. Also key is that you possess the competence and commitment to working with families to identify their strengths and give the support needed to maximise these.
It is essential that you have a sound knowledge of the core principles of supporting vulnerable families and have at least three years experience working in this field. As a competent Family Support Worker you will have a thorough understanding the complexities of working on a one-to-one basis with parents/carers and the barriers which they may face within their lives. A relevant qualification is desirable.
With excellent verbal and written communication skills you will be passionate about the benefit of befriending/mentoring support. Highly motivated and able to maintain a case load, you will also have the ability to observe the attention to detail necessary to ensure excellent case recording, evaluation and reporting.
You will be confident in taking the initiative, have problem solving skills and bring a ‘can do’ attitude to the role. Also your ability to motivate others and build relational rapport, as well as being able to forge links between other agencies, is important. Your character will however come first as we require a passionate, professional, proactive and caring individual, able to lead by example and fit quickly into our parent support team.
This post is 21hrs per week and may involve out of hours, evening and possible weekend working. Essential – Car driver with access to a car / PVG check.
