Glasgow East Women’s Aid (GEWA) is a charity delivering a range of high quality services to prevent and respond to domestic abuse against women, children and young people living within the North East of Glasgow. The role of Director is to ensure the strategic direction, effective management and accountability of Glasgow East Women’s Aid. We are looking for committed and enthusiastic women who have an understanding of the gendered analysis of domestic abuse and can bring their knowledge and skills to GEWA to develop and support our service, objectives and mission through feminist governance.

  1. Ensuring strong and appropriate governance of the charity at all times and provide guidance and leadership
  2. Supporting and ensuring the development and implementation of the strategic plan in conjunction with the staff team
  3. Promote and commit to the above strategic aims
  4. Attendance and participation at Board meetings (currently monthly)
  5. Attendance at AGM
  6. Be an advocate for GEWA
  7. Participation in and contribution to sub groups
  8. Effective management of risk at GEWA
  9. Ensure service user needs are at the forefront of all decisions, where possible and appropriate
  10. Developing and maintaining an effective Board
  11. Participation in occasional recruitment, development days and organisational events
  12. Participation in Board member induction processes and procedures
  13. A commitment of a minimum of a one year term
  14. To adhere to all GEWA policies and procedures, including Safeguarding
  15. Ensure the accountability of GEWA in accordance with all legal requirements, including but not restricted to, OSCR, Inland Revenue, Companies House, SSSC, Care Inspectorate and other stakeholders.
  16. Any other duties as reasonably required by the funder and / or GEWA
