Are you the authentic and passionate person we are looking for to take on this challenging role? You will be joining our Family Support team to give one-to-one support to parents and carers and also responsible for ensuring that outcomes are met in our partnership projects.
Character is our key requirement, as we believe that through this your competence will be effectively applied. So, aligning with our core values of Passion, Innovation, Commitment, Openness and Respect, we seek someone with the drive and enthusiasm to develop within this role and bring creative solutions where needed.
You will be contributing to two partnership projects - ‘Pathways to Confidence’ with COVEY BEFRIENDING and Bellshill YMCA and our Parent Partnership Project with Airdrie CAB. The focus of these projects is on mentoring and befriending through supporting the whole family, to ensure positive longer term outcomes for young people aged 8-14, with COVEY responsible for working with their parent/carers.
You should be a highly organised person who will have experience in directly supporting vulnerable parents/carers, to ensure good outcomes are met for both them and their children. A flexible, innovative approach is necessary. Also key is that you possess the competence and commitment to working with families to identify their goals and give the support needed in order to achieve these.
It is essential that you have a sound knowledge of the core principles of supporting vulnerable families and have experience working in this field. It is also desireable that you have knowledge of the benefits system and the work of Citizen’s Advice. As a competent Family Support Worker you will have a thorough understanding of the complexities of working with young people and their families and the barriers which they may face within their lives. A relevant qualification is desirable.
With excellent verbal and written communication skills you will be passionate about the benefit of befriending/mentoring support and volunteering. Highly motivated and able to maintain a case load, you will also have the ability to observe the attention to detail necessary to ensure excellent case recording, evaluation and reporting. You will be strong in administration, planning and organisational skills, be excellent at communication and understand the need for accountability and team working.
You will be confident in taking the initiative, have problem solving skills and bring a ‘can do’ attitude to the role. Your character will come first – as good people can make good organisations great – and here we need a passionate, professional, proactive and caring individual, able to lead by example, through creating mutual trust and shared vision within the team. Your ability to motivate others and build relational rapport, as well as being able to forge links between other agencies, is important.
This post may involve out of hours, evening and possible weekend working. Essential – Car driver with access to a car / PVG check.
