Role

Scottish Refugee Council is looking for an experienced Policy Officer to join our Policy, Communications and Communities Team to support our work to advocate for the rights and implementation of rights of refugees and people seeking asylum in Scotland, UK and Europe.

You will take a lead on specific policy areas, using different advocacy methods, to achieve real change in relation to voting rights, the rights of stateless people and the protection, welfare and integration of unaccompanied-asylum seeking and trafficked children and young people.

You will also be responsible for profiling the campaigning, research and policy work of Scottish Refugee Council by organising regular briefing sessions to relevant and interested stakeholders.

You are a passionate, experienced and knowledgeable human rights and social justice campaigner. You have excellent research and analytical skills and are an exceptional communicator with the confidence and ability to interact with refugees, politicians, civil servants, partners and community groups.

This post will be subject to a Disclosure checks.

Please note that it is the policy of Scottish Refugee Council to start new employees on the lower end of the specified salary scheme.
