There is now the opportunity for two Volunteer Development Officers working out of our Glasgow HQ.

The Volunteer Development Officer will be responsible for key aspects of volunteer development such as recruitment, induction, training, retention, motivation and engagement.

• Travel to other venues required.

• Weekend and evening work required.

• Driving licence required.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Promote volunteering within the organisation.
  • Recruitment and selection – Managing the recruitment and placement of volunteers.
  • Manage the induction of volunteers.
  • Plan, organise and monitor volunteering activities.
  • Learning and development.
  • Volunteer conduct – address problems with volunteers’ performance and conduct.
  • Promote productive working relationships between volunteers and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain partnership working to support the delivery of the volunteering strategy.
  • Identify, assess and control health and safety risks.

Manage projects involving volunteers.

  • Organise events involving volunteers such as meetings, seminars, forums, internal conferences, promotional events and social events.
  • Manage the quality of services involving volunteers.
  • Maintain CPD.
  • Managing and developing area emergency planning and resilience, along with managing volunteers providing these services.
  • Work in partnership with the Area Executive Committee to develop local activities in line with delivering the organisation’s aims and objectives.
  • Liaise with the Volunteer Development Trainer to ensure that volunteers are trained and competen
  • Liaise with the Volunteer Development Trainer on interview training for volunteers.
  • Deal with conflict, volunteer conduct issues to mediate and resolve.
  • To represent the organisation as appropriate at meetings of relevant external stakeholders/organisations/partners
  • Liaise with the Finance, Marketing and Training departments as appropriate.
