Role

Home-Start Edinburgh West and South West (HSEW) is a voluntary organisation committed to supporting parents to give their children the best start in life. The families we work with have children under five and face a variety of different challenges. This post has been created to promote positive perinatal mental health by improving access to our local groups and family learning opportunities including Peep and Baby Massage.

The post holder will work as part of a team and the role will complement our home visiting support service delivered by staff and volunteers. As a Peep Delivery Centre, we can offer accredited family learning where appropriate with the opportunity for parents to gain confidence together with a recognised qualification. We have established several parenting groups across the North West and South West of Edinburgh and have a small team of volunteers qualified as Peep facilitators or Baby Massage instructors.

We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our team to manage the sessions, support the volunteers involved and complete the associated paperwork. Some session delivery will be required.

The post holder will work closely with the Volunteer and Family Support Co-ordinators.

Essential Criteria:

  • Experience of Peep/Baby Massage/Parenting Programmes
  • Experience of working/volunteering with families experiencing challenging circumstances
  • Experience of working with volunteers
  • Knowledge of Home-Start
  • Ability to use initiative
  • Willingness to travel across Edinburgh North West and South West (for which expenses will be paid)

The hours of work are 33 a week worked over 5 days.
