Role

About Us

Established over 75 years ago, Youth 1st is the leading support agency for youth organisations, youth groups, youth workers, volunteers and young people in Fife.

The core purpose of Youth 1st is to act as a hub of information and resources to support Fife’s youth groups and organisations and their youth workers who enable young people to realise their full potential. Each year a number of youth groups and organisations become members of Youth 1st. We currently have approximately 7000 young people throughout Fife attending over 180 different youth groups and organisations. Most of our member groups are organised and run by volunteers. Our highly experienced staff team offer support, advice, access to training and events to all our members across Fife. We are a valued Youth Work partner in both the Local and National Voluntary Youth Work Sectors and work closely with our partners in Fife Council, NHS Fife, Fife Voluntary Action and other agencies across Fife.

About the Role

The Youth Worker will support the B:activ Co-ordinator in delivery of the B:Activ project, which encourages and supports young people to become more involved in their local community and to offer young people who attend member groups access to fun and exciting alternative activities that promote physical activity and healthy lives. These will lead to improved skills, confidence and self-esteem, helping them to build healthy relationships in a supportive environment.

We have secured funding to continue and expand on the success delivered in the pilot phase. The focus over the next three years will be to build on the good foundations laid since 2016, and firmly embed B:activ into our offer to members and young people. Areas for development identified by the young volunteers in the pilot phase include more training, ways to accredit their learning, creation of a peer mentor scheme and opportunities for face to face delivery.

At Youth 1st, you can look forward to an excellent package, including a generous holiday entitlement, flexible working and a pension.
