As part of the organisation’s Advocacy Service, you will be responsible for delivering an independent advocacy service to people affected by MND by empowering them to express their views, wishes and choices.
MND Scotland is looking for someone to advocate on behalf of people affected by Motor Neurone Disease, ensuring that they are able to remain as involved as possible in all decisions that affect their lives. This role covers a large geographic area and will involve travel throughout the north of Scotland, however, the largest concentration of clients is in the Aberdeenshire area.
This is a key role within the advocacy team. You will work with clients with MND to empower them to represent themselves, when possible and desired, and to speak up on their behalf. Liaising with public bodies and voluntary groups, as required, to resolve problems, ensure access to the social care and related support they need, and reassure people with MND that they are being supported through a difficult situation.
You will be a highly motivated individual, have experience in health and social care, have excellent communication skills and enjoy new challenges. A clear understanding and commitment to the principles of empowerment, equality and inclusion is essential. As well as an awareness of the barriers faced by people with significant illness in society.
