Eden Project Communities has UK-wide reach and delivers initiatives that encourage public engagement and participation in positive action and create real social capital on a mass scale. Since it began in 2009, participation in The Big Lunch, the UK’s annual get-together for neighbours, has grown continually with the number of people taking part in 2017 rising to over 9 million. Alongside this we deliver initiatives that encourage connections, engage the public and help people across the UK build the skills and confidence to drive positive social action where it is needed most.

Over the next 3 years we are growing participation in the programme to new heights and aim to increase the social impact we have on communities and neighbourhoods all over the UK. You’ll help us increase awareness of and participation in all aspects of the programme in Scotland, including The Big Lunch, Community Camps, Exchange Hubs, The Big Lunch Community Walk and other projects.

Working as part of the Eden Project Communities team in Scotland, and in close collaboration with our other part-time Community Network Developer, you will take the lead in creating connections for people who are making positive change in their communities through the development and support of exchange hubs and a peer support network across Scotland. Key elements of the role include increasing participation in all aspects of the Eden Project Communities programme, developing resources, delivering and supporting events and building networks across people, projects and organisations.

Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 2 years’ experience of organising and supporting community work and will have strong networking, relationship-building, event planning and facilitation skills. An excellent communicator, you will have the ability to engage and connect audiences at all levels through delivering events, experiences and resources and you will thrive in a fast-paced atmosphere where creative thinking and the ability to respond quickly to emerging opportunities is essential.
