You First Advocacy provide issue-based advocacy support to vulnerable individuals in Renfrewshire.
This is an exciting and challenging post for well organised persons who support social justice and the rights of vulnerable individuals.
The post will be to assist the Advocacy Service Manager in the running and development of You First Advocacy and to deputise for the Manager in their absence. In addition, you will co-ordinate with the Advocacy Service Manager, a range of training, supervision and support activities for the volunteer advocacy workers. The post will also involve direct work with service users who have a spectrum of ‘Community Care’ issues.
It is essential that you have knowledge and experience of mental health, learning disability and generic client groups. You will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills, also good presentation skills. A knowledge and experience of advocacy is desirable.
You must have an understanding of the role of volunteers, together with experience of recruiting, and delivering training.
It is desirable that you are educated to degree level or equivalent, and essential that you have some supervision/management experience.
