The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh is the oldest and largest of the UK surgical Royal Colleges, and one of the largest of all the UK medical Royal Colleges. First incorporated as the Barber Surgeons of Edinburgh in 1505, the College has been at the vanguard of surgical innovation and developments for over 500 years.
The College’s primary role is to ensure the safety of patients and support the provision of the best possible care. it fulfils this role by championing the highest standards of surgical and dental practice; through provision of courses and educational programmes, training, examinations and Continuous Professional Development; liaising with external medical bodies; and by influencing healthcare policy across the UK.

About the Role
The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh seeks to appoint a Faculty Development Manager who will be responsible for managing, coordinating and providing on-going support to new, emerging and established faculties of the College. The successful applicant for this new position will play a critical role by liaising and working closely with senior College staff and with the College’s external partners in industry, non-governmental organisations, higher education and the wider medical and healthcare communities, to ensure the success of the Colleges’ faculties and the delivery of their objectives.
Occasionally, the requirement may arise for the post holder to undertake work outside of normal business hours or travel for business purposes.
This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced manager who can demonstrate a history of successful project design and delivery as well as strong team development and management skills. The successful applicant will be someone who is comfortable working collaboratively across professional boundaries with a range of stakeholders to develop, coordinate and deliver critical work streams and objectives.
Educated to Degree level or equivalent, you will also bring to the role a structured and methodical approach that will support compliance with College and Faculty governance, compliance and reporting requirements.
You will have experience of supporting or working with senior-level committees and working groups. Experience in working with or establishing professional membership networks or communities of practice will be a distinct advantage.
