Based in Edinburgh, with requirement for some travel to project partners and associated conferences

Improving Justice in Child Contact: children affected by domestic violence

The Improving Justice in Child Contact: children affected by domestic violence is an international partnership project funded by the European Commission to improve the justice system so that children’s and women’s human rights are respected and for ensuring that children’s views are effectively included, and to ensure knowledge exchange. Partner countries are Scotland, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Romania and Portugal.

The lead partner is the Centre for Research on Families and Relationships (CRFR) at the University of Edinburgh. Scottish Women’s Aid is part of the management partnership, and the SWA Coordinator will liaise with the Research Fellow (Improving Justice in Child Contact) at the CRFR, and develop training methods and materials for delivery to project partners to enable them to establish local child-expert groups, ensuring promotion of children’s rights and women’s safety in contact processes and disputes. This will include the use of SWA’s successful Power Up/Power Down model of participation, and the post involves project co-ordination, stakeholder and partner engagement.
