Giving all children in Scotland an equal chance to flourish is at the heart of everything we do. By bringing together a network of people working with and for children, alongside children and young people themselves, we offer a broad, balanced and independent voice.
We now manage the National Third Sector GIRFEC project, which helps to promote the role of the sector’s children’s services organisations in improving outcomes for children and young people.
This Senior Policy Officer (Engagement) post will play a key role in the project, focussing on gaining better understanding of children’s and young people’s engagement and influence in shaping services.
The post holder will work to understand, strengthen and support local third sector partners to develop their knowledge, skills and experience in engaging with children and young people to support policy influencing, service design and delivery. They will examine the context for this engagement, including partnership working, engagement methodologies, the role of third sector organisations in enabling the engagement, and wider policy drivers.
The post holder will have significant experience of participation and engagement work with children and young people; an ability to judge the effectiveness of different engagement approaches; and knowledge of the third and statutory sectors’ roles in children’s services planning and delivery. They will have highly developed project management, communication and partnership working abilities.
