Are you interested in supporting and making a difference to people visiting a loved one in prison?
Do you understand the need for compassion and understanding whilst people deal with what can be one of the most difficult times in their lives?
The Croft has been supporting visitors at HMP Barlinnie since 2012 and is looking for someone motivated with excellent communication skills to join our small, friendly team of staff and volunteers. Experience of working with the public is essential as you will be approaching visitors in the public areas of the prison to offer information and support. Please note that this role does not involve work with people in prison and is focussed on work with members of the public in the Entrance Area and Waiting Room at the prison. We particularly welcome applications from people who have lived experience of the criminal justice system, either themselves or through friends or family members. A qualification in a relevant discipline such as social care; advice provision; social work or counselling is desirable, full training will be provided.
Hours are currently 19 hours per week to be worked Thursday, Friday and weekends. Shifts will usually be: Thursday & Friday 12-8pm (weekday shifts with 1 hour unpaid break) and Saturday or Sunday 10.30am-4pm (weekend shifts with 30 minute unpaid break). This post is funded until April 2020, with potential for funding to be extended.
The post is subject to PVG Scheme Record/Update, paid by The Croft.
