Role

Edinburgh Young Carers is looking for experienced youth workers to assist with our respite groups. You will work with young people who have a caring role at home, to ensure that they are provided with the support and services that they require.

Sessional Youth Workers will be working with young carers from the age of 5 to 20 in group settings, assisting in the planning, preparation and delivery of group work activities, and building positive relationships with young carers through effective communication and listening skills.

You must be flexible, creative, enjoy challenges, able to work in a person-centred and empowering way, and be committed to the development of children and young people’s rights.

Specific Roles:

Wednesday Evening Respite Groups : Working most Wednesday evenings 5:30-8:30 term-time in our under 12 years or 12-15 years group. You will be supported by a Young Carer Development Worker to ensure that young carers access a fun and supportive respite group.

General : Group and event support, helping with the running of activities, taking part and supporting the general feel of the group and enviroment, during term-time and at holiday activities.
