Role

Carers Trust Scotland is part of Carers Trust, a major charity for, with and about carers. We work to improve support, services and recognition for anyone living with the challenges of caring, unpaid, for a family member or friend who is ill, frail, disabled or has mental health or addiction problems.

With locally based Network Partners we are able to support carers in the community with information, advice, emotional support, hands on practical help and access to much needed breaks. We offer specialist services for carers of people of all ages and conditions and a range of individually tailored support and group activities.

We are currently looking for a highly skilled, self-motivated and innovative Development Officer who has a proven track record of delivering impactful community development work.

The successful candidate will be responsible for implementing and diversifying our Going Further and Going Higher programme of work with all colleges and universities across Scotland, ensuring that every college and university has the infrastructure and capacity to identify, support and report on unpaid student carers. You will also be responsible strengthening our existing collaborations and identifying new areas of development to enhance our working, strategically and operationally with a range of stakeholders such as colleges, universities, our Network Partners, the College Development Network, and Scottish Funding Council. While ensuring through our Student Carers Voice for Scotland forum that student carers voices are heard, and able to influence, shape and contribute to policy and practice developments in further and higher education in Scotland.

The successful candidate will have experience in working with seldom heard groups and have experience of delivering a range of community learning development approaches to deliver positive outcomes and change for stakeholders. The successful candidate is expected to have excellent interpersonal skills, can think strategically and operationally and have experience of delivering capacity building activity in the third sector.
