Care Shelter Night Shift Project Workers

  • Salary: £22,405.00 pa (pro rata). Hourly Rate: £11.49. Up to 39.375 hours per week. Fixed Term until 3 May 2020.



The Care Shelter runs through the winter months to provide shelter for people who would otherwise be sleeping rough in Edinburgh. We require temporary staff who will work constant night shift for 32 weeks (one week on, one week off) from 23 September 2019 until 3 May 2020. In addition, there will be training from 11 September which will take place during the day.

You will work at the Care Shelter based at Diadem on Gorgie Road in conjunction with volunteers who provide meals and support. You will feel motivated to show God’s love to people who are homeless and vulnerable on our city’s streets. Every winter we see lives transformed and God working in amazing ways!

There are four project worker positions available to work night shifts, up to full-time and there are two part-time project worker positions available, working 8pm until midnight, up to 14 hours per week to cover the busiest period each evening.

The proportion of hours to be shared between team members will be finalised in discussion with applicants.

Do you have the knowledge of and passion to provide an excellent caring service to homeless and vulnerable people who need shelter during the cold winter months? You will work constant night shift for 32 weeks (one week on, one week off).

You will work closely with service users and volunteers so excellent communication skills are essential. Ideally you will bring an SVQ3 in Health & Social Care/Promoting Independence. A full UK driving licence with a D1 category (minibus) is desirable.
