Role

Scottish Women’s Aid is Scotland’s leading voluntary sector organisation working to prevent domestic abuse and promote effective policy and practice responses for women, children and young people who experience domestic abuse. We are the umbrella organisation for 37 autonomous Women’s Aid groups delivering direct services to women, children and young people across Scotland.

Scottish Women’s Aid (SWA) is looking for a highly skilled policy professional to become our new Policy Manager (temporary). You will understand public policy and policy-making, particularly in relation to domestic abuse or violence against women and girls, and understand the gendered analysis of domestic abuse.

This is an exciting opportunity to help Scottish Women’s Aid to influence and respond to the changing policy and legislative landscape, and to develop our medium to long term strategy for the policy function. As well as working on specific policy areas depending on emerging priorities, such as education, health or prevention, you will be responsible for developing a plan for the medium to long term development of the policy function and line managing a small team of policy workers.

SWA is seeking a diplomatic self-starter, with leadership skills as well as great attention to detail; someone who gets work done within agreed timelines, works on her own initiative, and contributes constructively as part of a team.
