Role

Age Scotland is the national charity for older people. We work to improve the lives of everyone over the age of 50 so that they can love later life.

Age Scotland has the exciting opportunity to develop our work with older veterans in Scotland as part of PoppyScotland’s Unforgotten Forces portfolio.

This project enables Age Scotland to enhance the advice we can provide to veterans through the Age Scotland Helpline, develop referral partnerships with specialist veterans’ agencies, raise awareness of the issues for older veterans and strengthen the ability of Age Scotland member groups to work with older veterans.

The Veterans Health Promotion Officer is a new and important role, encouraging and supporting older veterans in community group settings across Scotland to increase their levels of regular physical activity.

The purpose of this role is to build the capacity of community groups to support increased physical activities by working in partnership with local and national organisations, including specialist sport and physical activities providers.

We are looking for someone with a minimum of 2 years’ experience in physical activity health related promotion and experience of working with groups in a community setting, including working with older people. You must also be able to demonstrate effective partnership working with a range of other agencies.

If you have the right level of skills and the ability to motivate and influence others in their health decisions, then please apply today.

This project is funded through to 20th June 2020.

This project is funded by the Aged Veterans Fund funded by the Chancellor using LIBOR funds.
