Nourishing Leith Café and Shop Coordinator

  • £19,000 FTE for three years, funded by The National Lottery Community Fund. Pro rata for 16 hours per week (full-time being counted as 36 hours), resulting in pre-tax pay of £10,133/year. Flexible start/finish times. May occasionally need to work unusual hours to meet the requirements of the post. No overtime payments but time off will be offered in lieu. We are hoping to raise funds to increase these hours, and to extend employment indefinitely. The postholder may also be offered freelance work over and above contracted hours, at a rate to be negotiated.


  • The Café and Shop Coordinator’s job is mainly to develop a revenue stream from the café (in whatever form this takes) and through the sales of whole plants and plant products from the tree nursery and market garden areas of Leith Community Croft (and possibly elsewhere).
  • The job will involve direct catering and retail work and also involve assisting with the recruitment and management of volunteers to help with the retail activities and liaising with/coordinating our gardeners to ensure a supply of saleable items.
  • The work will be done in collaboration with the Nourishing Leith Project Officer.
  • The job has potential for evolving/expanding.
