Role

We're looking for someone passionate about making a difference who can help lead the expansion of an innovative violence reduction programme which is changing lives.

The first programme of its kind in the UK, Navigator seeks to stop the revolving door of violent injury in Scotland's hospitals. Based in emergency departments around the country our navigators complement the work of medical staff by engaging with patients who have been affected by violence in all its forms. The aim is to break the cycle of violence for the individual and ease the pressure placed on the NHS. Navigator has been hailed by medical staff as an "invaluable" and "life changing" service.

The post holder will provide operational management for the current team of eight navigators whilst working to further develop the programme to hospitals across Scotland, ensuring the sustainable and long-term growth of Navigator. Crucial to this role will be the ability to connect and form strategic partnerships with stakeholders at all levels.

Navigator is run by charity Medics Against Violence in partnership with the Scottish Violence Reduction Unit, a national centre of excellence in violence reduction and the NHS.

The role is funded until 2020 with the potential for extension subject to continued funding.
