A personal assistant is needed to support a young woman who has physical and learning disabilities and lives in Dundee. Personal care, practical help and support in the community are required.
“I am a 43 year-old wheelchair user, who has cerebral palsy, MS and learning disability. I live with my parents and attend a day centre. I like to socialise in the evenings and at weekends. I have a good sense of humour and can communicate well. I am looking for a personal assistant, who will help me to be as independent as possible and who is fun-loving.”
Place of Work
At the employer’s home and out in the community. Wheelchair adapted car available for use during work hours.
10 hours per week, 40 weeks of the year: Saturday 12:00-17:00 & Sunday 12:00-17:00
The Personal Assistant will be expected to do the following tasks:
Car driver and non-smoker essential.
Reliability and flexibility essential.
Please note that the successful applicant will need to become a PVG Scheme member for this position. The PVG Scheme replaces Enhanced Disclosure for individuals working with Vulnerable Groups. If you are successful, we can supply an application form for you to become a scheme member.
The SDS Support Service exists to support people to employ their own Personal Assistants and/or purchase services using direct payments. As an organisation we are not the employer, but assist people to look for staff if they need them. If you are employed, your contract will be with the person in receipt of the direct payment and not with Dundee Carers Centre or the SDS Support Service.
