Children 1st work to give every child in Scotland a safe and secure childhood. We achieve this by providing direct services to vulnerable children, young people and their families across Scotland.
The Maximise service is funded by City of Edinburgh Council, Edinburgh Health and Social Care Partnership, Children 1st Edinburgh Family Wellbeing Service and Community Health and Advice Initiative (CHAI). This is a public health initiative working in collaboration with the City of Edinburgh Council’s ‘1 in 5: Raising Awareness of Child Poverty in Edinburgh’ project and supported by schools across the city to promote families financial resilience, health and wellbeing and the attainment of children and young people.
The role will build on our successful pilot project which created an integrated community team of Family Support Workers from Children 1st and Advice Workers and Employability Workers from CHAI to provide holistic, community-based support to families and schools.
We are now developing community teams in each of the cities four localities. The Team Leader will be central to supporting the creation and development of this project. The Team Leader will lead the implementation of our community teams and work in partnership with schools and community-based partners to embed our integrated delivery model.
Working on a citywide basis, the Team Leader will support our 4 Maximise community teams and local high school, primary schools and nurseries to ensure that that families are socially, emotionally and financially resilient and therefore better able to maximise the learning and attainment of their children and young people. The Team Leader role will be part of the wider Children 1st Edinburgh Family Wellbeing Service and will work alongside Children 1st and CHAI colleagues to ensure child-centred, family minded practice is at the heart of the Maximise! advice and support-based approach to tackling child poverty in Edinburgh.
We know that money and debt issues can be a result of – or result in – a range of social and emotional factors which in turn can affect family life. The Team Leader will work closely with the City of Edinburgh Council’s ‘1 in 5: Raising Awareness of Child Poverty in Edinburgh’ project and the Edinburgh Children’s Services Plan in order to ensure the Maximise! Service is aligned with their aims of addressing health and social inequalities and improving pupil attainment.
We are looking for an experienced professional with a social work, community work, family support, child/early years or other appropriate qualification. If you have experience of project development and implementation and are passionate about tackling child poverty and maximising the income, wellbeing, attainment and potential of families then we want to hear from you.
