Role

As a result of Big Lottery funding we are seeking to recruit a cancer support worker to join our existing team within the Westerhaven, Cancer Information & Support Centre in South West Edinburgh.

The cancer support worker will join our existing team helping to coordinate and provide person-centred support and assessment to people affected by cancer and long-term conditions and their families, friends and carers. This service offers information & support, groupwork, massage, counselling and outreach support. This project is within the remit of the Health Agency, a non-statutory organisation which provides holistic health interventions in an area of multiple deprivations.

Post holder must be qualified in a relevant degree – Nursing, Community Education, Social work, Health Psychology or health related field.

The post holder must have a strong understanding of the challenges faced by people affected by cancer and have effective interpersonal skills in working with people on a 1:1 basis.
