Challenging Violence Against Women: working with men

Length of post: One year minimum

Salary: £9,143 a year (£20,000 pro rata)

Place of work: CIS’s offices, Charing Cross area, Glasgow G3 6DS

Hours of work: 16 hours a week, days Monday to Friday by agreement with time off in lieu for occasional evening or weekend working

The aim of the Project Workers’ posts is to provide information on Violence Against Women (VAW) and in particular Gender Based Violence (GBV) to men in communities where this is known to be practiced.

Trainee Men’s Project Worker post is to build trust by providing One to One support to people from these communities, in order to:

  • Help with language barriers and assisting men to access services
  • Raise awareness of human rights and responsibilities
  • Raise awareness among men about VAW and GBV and the consequences of it
  • Motivate men to participate in challenging VAW and GBV among their families and communities

Community InfoSource has been working, since 2006, with marginalised people to overcome the barriers they face to integration, and supporting them to put their own ideas into action. Two of our four directors came here as refugees and the others have worked in this field.
