The Royal College of General Practitioners is the largest membership organisation solely for GPs in the United Kingdom. Founded in 1952, it has over 52,000 members, with around 5,000 in Scotland, who are committed to improving patient care, developing their own skills and promoting general practice as a discipline. General practice is the largest branch of the medical profession. It provides some 1 million consultations for patients in the UK every working day and deals with 86% of the health problems experienced by the UK population.
We are looking for an experienced Executive Administrator who will provide administrative support to the Chair and Manager of RCGP Scotland and the wider Communications and Public Affairs Team and Deputy Chair (Policy), to take forward tasks that support the activity of RCGP Scotland. Key tasks for this role will be managing the diaries of the Chair, Manager of RCGP Scotland, and Deputy Chair (Policy), arranging and attending meetings and carrying out related administrative tasks, ensuring accurate minutes are taken and being the first point of contact on all queries. The post holder will also be required to administer travel bookings for Chair, Deputy Chair and Manager, and to work closely with other members of staff towards the aims and objectives of the Communications and Public Affairs Team.
Educated to HNC level or equivalent, you will have an excellent working knowledge of MS Office along with experience of administration work. You will also have experience of using your strong customer service and communication skills. You will have strong organisational skills with an ability to prioritise your own workload and meet deadlines in a very busy environment.
Candidates should have:
· Excellent listening, written and verbal communication skills with personnel at all levels
· Excellent diary and time management skills with the ability to prioritise effectively to meet conflicting deadlines
· Excellent interpersonal skills
· A high standard of attention to detail in published material (e.g. email and letter correspondence, progress reports, papers, and so on)
· Excellent literacy skills to interpret and compile complex information in a professional manner.
