Addaction is looking to appoint a motivated and enthusiastic Substance Misuse Worker to join its new Young People’s Service covering the East Dunbartonshire area. The service will provide community based support in both one to one and group settings for young people at risk as a result of their substance misuse. It will also provide support at evenings and weekends if required.

The successful candidate must have an SVQ Level 3 in Social Care, with a minimum of two years experience working with young people in the addictions field or a transferrable care setting.

Acting as both supporter and facilitator you will help create recovery plans to assist young people through and beyond the challenges they face and work with them to make positive changes to their lives.

In addition, you will have a sound knowledge and understanding of assessment, recovery planning, key working and the issues facing those with drug/alcohol misuse issues. You will have excellent listening skills balanced with a team orientated and proactive attitude.

This is a part time role, working 22.5 days per week, 3 days over 7. The work pattern will be discussed at interview and will be agreed to suit service needs but individual preferences will be taken into account.
