The Young Women’s Movement is looking for one trustee from anywhere in Scotland to join our Board of Trustees this autumn. In their own words, here’s a message from our current Board (Rachel, Kate, Liz, Lipa, Molly, Briana, Cat, Mridul) …

I joined the board because I wanted a seat at the table where my contributions and opinions would be valued but also be taken on an actionable basis. The YWCA board has enabled me to experience conversations and topics I had not previously ventured into, that experience is invaluable. When I look at the board I see a better reflection of the kind of sisterhood I want to see more in society and having that seat is a big responsibility but a privilege.

WHAT’S INVOLVED

  • The Board is responsible for establishing and maintaining the overall strategic and governance direction of YWCA Scotland – The Young Women’s Movement
  • A reasonable time commitment of 6 Board meetings per year (weekday evenings)
  • A commitment to shared values and objectives of the organisation
  • A basic disclosure check is required. Please note: your past experience might not necessarily limit you from involvement

HOW TO APPLY

We encourage everyone interested to apply and we especially encourage applications from ethnically & culturally diverse young women, as well as people with a wide range of life experiences. We are especially interested in applications from women with experience of business development and/or social enterprise. We are flexible and Board members will have the option of taking part in meetings remotely via conference call. All meeting venues are fully accessible. We want every volunteer and employee to feel welcome, included and supported.
