Role

The Department

The Tenant Sustainment Officer role is part of the Housing department and located within our Edinburgh Housing office. The Tenant Sustainment Officer will have a responsibility for assisting our tenants to sustain tenancies by providing a range of financial inclusion support.

The Job

  • Deal with any issues in relation to their rent account, and where there are rent arrears liaise with housing staff to agree a mutually acceptable repayment plan.
  • Maximise income for clients by ensuring applications are made for all appropriate welfare benefits and depending on circumstances, application for charitable grants.
  • Liaise with external stakeholders and attend meetings with agencies relevant to the duties of the post.
  • Keep up-to-date with new and changing legislation in relation to money advice, welfare benefits and financial inclusion.
  • Extensive travel will be required; therefore access to a vehicle is essential, for which travelling expenses will be paid.

The Candidate

The Tenancy Sustainment Officer will be customer focused and be able to demonstrate empathy with tenants in sometimes difficult financial situations.
