COVEY befriending is seeking a highly motivated individual to take forward an exciting development in the organisation.
COVEY’s vision is for children, young people and families to live happy fulfilled lives. We support them through strong trusting relationships to become more resilient, safe and better equipped to reach their full potential; we add colour to lives and we believe that the right person in this post will do just that by the developing and delivering of our Step Change Project.
Your character will be the key and considered more than your competence, as values are the essence of COVEY and we believe that it is only through alignment to those values that competence can be effectively applied.
Do you have experience in taking an idea and developing it to its full potential? COVEY has secured funding from Wm Grant Foundation to deliver a ‘Step Change’ for the organisation.
This will involve the development of Self Directed Support (SDS) provision and linked to that, the establishment of COVEY as an accredited Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) centre. The Step Change vision is that staff, volunteers and those we support have the opportunity to gain qualifications. Where appropriate this will help them deliver our services, and for some, begin their supported employment journey. Through this we will also be able to generate income and introduce a new dimension to the organisation.
The SDS provision will require coordination skills with an ability to assess the needs of young people and facilitate and support relationships.
It is essential that you are able to communicate respectfully and effectively with all stakeholders. You will have the ability to quickly establish rapport and build respectful, honest and trusted relationships involving young people and their families.
Ideally you will have business planning and development experience, having the ability to see the big picture and how ideas link together. You will also have the attention to detail necessary to develop policies and procedures for this new project. With at least three years project management experience ideally in the related fields of social care and SQA accreditation you will be able to work well on your own initiative. It is also desirable that you would be experienced in delivering such programmes in order that you could quickly begin to deliver on the desired outcomes. Your problem solving skills will be already well developed and you will bring a ‘can do’ attitude to the role. You will have the ability to see how this project delivers on COVEY’s strategic direction and also build on the existing operational systems to see us grow as an organisation. It is essential that you are qualified to degree level or equivalent.
With strong planning and organisational skills, you will be able to meet tight deadlines, have a proven ability to prioritise workloads, be highly motivated and able to work under pressure.
While your character will come first; you will also demonstrate a balanced, capable and passionate ability to work with a wide range of people. You will quickly be able to create mutual trust with your colleagues and partners, and be able to represent COVEY in a professional manner.
This post may involve some evening and weekend working.
