Role

Team Jak is a Scottish charity providing practical, social and emotional support to children and young people with cancer, their family and friends and those bereaved. Services and support is provided across Scotland and namely Jak’s Den in Livingston, Pop Up Dens in Aberdeen and North of Scotland, Fife and Dundee and Lothian and Borders, and hospital outreach in Edinburgh, Glasgow and Aberdeen.

We are looking for a dynamic and experienced professional to join us as Fundraising Relationship Co-ordinator. The successful candidate will support the continued growth of our charity throughout Scotland and further develop and sustain meaningful relationships within the community and local businesses. The successful candidate will be the face of the charity within the communities we serve, have a real “can-do” attitude with clear energy, drive and enthusiasm.

Key Responsibilities

  • To work with the CE and other team members to contribute to and fulfil the charity’s fundraising strategy
  • To build long standing relationships with key local community organisations with the aim of securing support of local groups for the benefit of the community. Such groups will include local churches, Rotary clubs and other community based clubs and associations
  • To initiate, develop and establish new ‘TJ Ambassador’ groups to offer fundraising support for the charity in the heart of local communities by creating and delivering a regular calendar of events
  • To promote and deliver existing activities in local communities, including:
  • Raffles / Lotteries
  • Challenge events
  • Regular Supporters
  • Den Events and Challenges
  • Capital Appeal
  • Legacies
  • To initiate and secure partnerships with small and medium sized corporates and support giving through staff fundraising, payroll giving and foundations.
  • To support online social media promotion and support of events and fundraisers within communities, with the aim of creating better engagement and attracting new supporters
  • To represent and proactively promote the Den within the local community, delivering presentations, cheque presentations and other appearances as required
  • To research, suggest and deliver initiatives that specifically target the younger fundraising audience
  • To ensure that record keeping is efficient and effective, with data of friends and supporters of TJF being managed and maintained at all times in line with GDPR requirements
  • To ensure all banking and thanking for community donations is processed within 5 working days of receipt of funds
  • To actively use existing database information to help targeted Fundraising but in line with GDPR requirements
  • To play a lead part in organising the charity’s fundraising events as directed by the CE.
  • To use your own initiative and have strong organisational skills regarding diary management, community support visits etc. and liaison with Fundraising Manager.

This is an exciting and demanding role and we are looking for candidates with the following skills and experience:

  • A warm, friendly and professional approach at all times and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Have the ability to liaise effectively with team members and supporters, establishing strong working relationships
  • Demonstrate proactivity and creativity in their approach to fundraising and new initiatives
  • Computer literate with Microsoft Office experience
  • Community fundraising experience and track record
  • Knowledge of Corporate Fundraising and willingness to embrace this area
  • Driving license and car owner is essential
  • MInstF or similar qualification preferred
  • Proven track record in successful fundraising required
  • Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required to attend or support various fundraising events.
