Just one week after the Scottish Parliamentary Election, this meeting will be to delve into the results, what it means for the voluntary sector and what we can expect in the year ahead.
We are delighted that we will once again be joined by Professor John Curtice, Professor Of Practice at the University of Strathclyde. SCVO will provide analysis from the voluntary sector perspective and Professor Curtice will share additional insights.
SCVO's Intermediaries Network reflects interests in the arts, disability, the environment, housing, learning, social care, sport and transport.
At this meeting SCVO will update members on our membership review before opening a discuss on the membership challenges for intermediary organisations more broadly.
We will then discuss the Scottish Election results.
A full agenda will be circulated prior to the meeting.

Charities and voluntary organisations exist to create a better society, and with Glasgow the host of the UN Climate Change conference in November now is the time for trustees to consider their organisation’s environmental responsibilities.
This webinar will focus on why trustees should look strategically at climate change and environmental sustainability, and what might be the practical, financial and attitudinal barriers they face. Issues covered will include:

Increasing board diversity is vital as our sector looks to recover and rebuild. Our organisations and our leadership need to be more inclusive and reflective of the communities we serve. Diversity in all its forms drives better decision making, but People of Colour, people with disabilities, and young people are underrepresented on boards.
The average age of a trustee is 57, and fewer than 3% of trustees are aged under 30. This is a risk to the sustainability of the sector and means that boards are missing out on the fresh perspective and range of skills, knowledge and experience young people can offer.
This webinar will look at how to recruit for the future, and why it’s important for young people to be represented on boards. We will explore what the challenges and barriers might be, where you can get support on recruitment and induction, and where you can find young trustees.
We are delighted to bring you our webinar in partnership with The Open University on accessible upskilling & reskilling opportunities for individuals and businesses across the length and breadth of Scotland. We will discuss what opportunities are available for you and your networks and how you can easily access them.
The webinar will discuss the variety of new training available from the Open University and SCVO including:

With the furlough scheme, officially the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme (CJRS), expected to come on an end on 30 September 2021, many organisations will be faced with the prospect of restructuring and, unfortunately for some, that may mean redundancies are on the horizon. We are conscious that this is a particularly difficult time for voluntary organisations and people managers alike and, that for some managers, this will be a relatively new process for them. In order to help equip you if you are faced with this situation, we are offering a workshop covering:

This one-hour online event will reflect on the past twelve months of funding practice across Scotland, enabling discussion between funders and community and voluntary sector organisations about what the future of funding in Scotland could look like.
How important is unrestricted funding? How important is project funding?
Organisations will have the opportunity to hear first-hand from three Scottish funding organisations about their learning and development over the past year, and how this has influenced their future plans.
SCVO will then host a discussion focussing on funding practice which has enabled communities and organisations to operate effectively and meet the needs of their beneficiaries. We will explore what funders could do more of, differently or leave behind to enable lasting and meaningful change across Scotland’s communities.
SCVO will use key learning and information from this event as a mandate from the sector to inform its agenda of work with funders in Scotland over the coming twelve months.
At this meeting we will be joined by Helen Martin, Head of the Fair Work Convention Secretariat. Helen will introduce the Fair Work Convention and the Convention’s vision that, by 2025, people in Scotland will have a world-leading working life where fair work drives success, wellbeing and prosperity for individuals, businesses, organisations and society.
Helen will discuss:
Fair work - what is it and why it matters
Fair work tools - what’s out there and how can they be used
Fair Work First - a new form of conditionality in grant funding and what this means.
Colleagues will then be invited to discuss with Helen and one another fair work and the voluntary sector in Scotland.
