We work strategically with policymakers, employers and unions to address the causes of women’s inequality at work. Close the Gap was established as a partnership initiative in 2001, and became a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation in 2016.

Purpose

To deliver the expansion of Close the Gap’s employer accreditation programme Equally Safe at Work in Scotland’s local government, building on the successful pilot. Equally Safe at Work enables employers to develop improved gender-sensitive employment practice to advance gender equality at work and prevent violence against women.

Role

We’re looking for an enthusiastic person to work on the expansion of Equally Safe at Work, Close the Gap’s employer accreditation programme, in Scotland’s local government sector. Committed to women’s labour market equality, you’ll be working closely with Equally Safe at Work colleagues to influence change and supporting councils to develop gender-sensitive employment practice and gain accreditation. You’ll also be developing materials, writing reports, delivering events and building relationships with stakeholders.

Equally Safe at Work supports employers to develop gender-sensitive employment practice to advance gender equality at work and prevent violence against women. To work closely with the Programme Manager to develop and deliver an evaluation plan, and design and deliver data gathering processes for Equally Safe at Work and related work. To gather and analyse data from employers and employees to inform monitoring and evaluation.

You’ll be working in our small, busy team to influence policy around the causes of the gender pay gap by producing policy analysis, briefings and advocacy materials, and building and managing relationships with key stakeholders. Committed to an intersectional approach to women’s labour market equality, you’ll also be supporting a research project on disabled women’s experiences of work.
