Carer Support Worker’s

We have both Full time - 35 hours per week, and Part time – 35hrs over two weeks or 21hrs per week vacancies available.

Lanarkshire Carers is recruiting Carer Support Workers to join our team. You will have a relevant qualification in health or social care and/or work experience appropriate for this post. You will need a good understanding of the issues carers face along with experience/understanding of providing individual and group work support, case management and person-centred, strength-based and outcome-focused approaches.

LGBTQ+ Carer Service Coordinator

We deliver information, advice and direct support services that enable unpaid carers to continue to care, whilst maintaining their own health and wellbeing. Thanks to Carers Trust ‘Making Carers Count’ programme we have been successful in funding a new 2 year LGBTQ+ Carer Project.

For this project we are recruiting a full time LGBTQ+ Carer Services Coordinator. This specialist role will support Lanarkshire Carers to deliver an inclusive service to carers belonging to LGBTQ+ communities. This role requires personal understanding and broad experience of LGBTQ+ carer issues and a strong commitment and desire for learning, development, and continual improvement of our approach to under-represented carers as a whole. The LGBTQ+ Coordinator will inform positive changes to practice, communication, and service offer. The specific area of work will be to support carers from the LGBTQ+ community, undertake LBGTQ+ research, engagement and collaboration effectively.

This project aims to ensure that carers from this under-represented group are identified and their barriers addressed so that they are engaged, informed, involved, supported and empowered to manage and sustain caring roles. This project management position will ensure LGBTQ+ carers are aware of their rights and are recognised and valued as equal partners in care.

Working closely with communities and partner organisations, the LGBTQ+ Carer Services Coordinator will inform and identify specific barriers and issues that affect carers from this underrepresented group. The Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) Carer Support Worker is a specialist role to support Lanarkshire Carers to deliver a culturally competent service to all BAME Carers. This role requires a strong commitment, desire, ability and preferably bilingual skills to reach out to carers from minority ethnic and disadvantaged backgrounds. The post holder will provide accessible information, advice, emotional and practical support that helps carers to achieve positive outcomes. It involves engaging with and developing relationships within hard to reach communities and building partnerships. The role includes raising awareness of carers from diverse backgrounds and establishing co-ordinated support by removing linguistic and cultural barriers in accessing Lanarkshire Carers and wider services.

Responsible to the member of the management/coordinator team and working as directed by the management/co-ordination team, Short Breaks Bureau Link Workers (SBBLW) works closely with staff, volunteers, carers and partner organisations to develop, plan and deliver comprehensive information, advice and support services for carers in Lanarkshire. The post holder will help shape and develop Lanarkshire Carers Short Breaks Bureau.

The SBBLW will help develop and promote good practice that improves access to short breaks. They will work collaboratively with the management/co-ordination team with activity related to the work of the Short Breaks Bureau and the wider organisation.

This post will report to a member of the management team and work closely with staff, volunteers, carers and partner organisations.

This exciting opportunity will involve working closely with partner organisations to develop opportunities for carers within their own communities, adhering to the value base of the organisation and ensuring a capacity building approach.
