Community Care Assynt is a community based charity working out of the Assynt Centre. We run a health and well being hub providing the people of Assynt with a care service in association with NHS Highland.

The role of the care manager is to manage a small group of staff and volunteers, promote the services within the local community and liaise with the board of CCA and the NHS. The Centre provides a lunch to local people in need Monday to Friday, activity sessions and works with the local community groups to support the needs of older people in Lochinver and the Assynt area.

The role will require a person who enjoys working independently with strong leadership qualities, a diploma in social work or nursing qualification. You will require a management qualification in care or similar up to level 10 or be able to work towards attaining the qualification.

THE JOB

Usual Hours of work Mon-Fri between 8am – 4pm or to suit service needs (exact set up to be negotiated, but it is envisaged that the 40 hours will need to be worked over 5 days per week.

The Care Manager plays a vital role as he or she will be the registered Manager for our Support Service which is registered with the Care Inspectorate. The Care Manager oversees the work of 4 other permanent part-time members of staff and 3 relief staff.

A key part of the role is to work with the Board of Directors to maintain the quality of our current services, as well as pro-actively supporting them in developing a sustainable future for the organisation within the community.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Managing the day to day running of the Community Care Assynt & the Assynt Centre including staff and volunteers, support, and development of the service.
  • Monitoring & evaluation of the service against agreed outcomes, and in line with our service level agreement with the NHS.
  • Working to agreed budgets & maintaining accounting systems to meet service need.
  • Overall responsibility for care and maintenance of the Assynt Centre.
  • Maintaining CCA's Care Inspectorate registration for the Support Service including all reporting to the Care Inspectorate in the role of registered Manager.
  • Ensuring completion of all service user assessments, care plans & reviews within given time frames so that the Support Service meets individual needs.
  • Providing cover for all Assynt Centre services including Cleaning, Food preparation, Transport & Activities as and when needed.
  • Developing an open & creative relationship with all service users.
  • Liaising and cooperating with other staff and agencies in the provision of appropriate services.
  • Ensuring effective implementation of policies and procedures to guarantee the provision of a quality service & ensuring that health & safety is always maintained.
  • Managing and maintaining effective record keeping.
  • Attending and contributing to Service Development and Board Meetings.
  • Taking the lead on special projects as agreed with Board of Directors
  • Delivering in house training to staff and volunteers as required.
  • Implementing service delivery changes as directed by the Board of Directors
  • Working closely with other third sector parties to develop joint working within Assynt and Sutherland
  • Actively promoting Community Care Assynt locally and nationally with external agencies and acting as an ambassador for the organisation
