CoMoUK has created a new post to lead on the integration of shared transport and rail in Scotland. The successful candidate will make the most of the opportunity arising from the renationalising of Scotrail to push for stronger links with car clubs, bike share, and Demand Responsive Transport with rail stations across the country. Shared transport is already an effective first/last mile mechanism that supports rail journeys; rail nationalisation is a key opportunity to make more of this interplay.

The post holder will promote integration of shared transport and deliver an action kit and mobility hub visualisations for railway stations, convene events and provide advice in order to best integrate Scotrail and shared transport.

This is a special opportunity to lead the national charity for the public benefit of shared transport, Collaborative Mobility UK (CoMoUK), in Scotland.

We exist to further the social, environmental and economic benefits of shared transport such as bike and car share schemes. We conduct unique national research, accredit operators, work closely with public authorities of all kinds and run a forward-thinking programme with Transport Scotland on shared transport.

The successful applicant will be CoMoUK’s lead in Scotland, responsible for delivering that work programme and all other activities in Scotland, as well as managing the team and representing CoMoUK publicly to Scottish stakeholders.

In the year to spring 2022, our work programme with Transport Scotland is focussed on delivering a green recovery from Covid-19, cutting greenhouse gas emissions, improving air quality and reducing inequalities. The programme encompasses expertise, strategic promotion, behaviour change and we have an exciting roster of products, research and advice forthcoming.

We want someone who can work with a range of stakeholders in delivering arguments for change that are backed up by evidence and a fresh approach to spatial and transport planning; someone who can lead a team, budget and programme and who is looking for a chance to influence Scottish policy and practice as it moves through the Covid-19 pandemic and towards its climate change and vehicle mileage reduction targets.
