The Community Engagement Officer will be responsible for developing strong and meaningful relationships with individuals and families in the Afghan community to help them get the best out of life in Scotland. The successful candidate will provide professional one-to-one support for individuals and families with matters of housing, immigration, social security, education, integration and more and respond to their questions and concerns. The Community Engagement Officer will identify the needs of community members and mechanisms for meeting these, providing reliable and responsible signposting and encourage participation in the full range of Glasgow Afghan United activities and services. The Community Development Officer will work with the Board of Trustees and Steering Group to plan and implement a range of activities and with the Community Caseworker and Community Capacity Building Officer to develop and deliver workshops and provide skill development training to increase participants self-esteem, improve life skills, reduce stress, and promote integration.
The Community Capacity Building Officer will be responsible for providing professional one-to-one training and support for Afghan individuals and families to help them get the best out of life in Scotland. This will include providing reliable and responsible signposting as a vital part of assisting people to adjust to new lives and facilitate integration, tailored to local authority areas and services. The Community Capacity Building Officer will work with the Board of Trustees and Steering Group to plan and implement a range of activities. The Community Capacity Building Officer will also work with the Community Caseworker where appropriate to identify needs and deliver workshops and skill development training to increase participants self-esteem, improve life skills, reduce stress, and promote integration.
The Digital Officer will be responsible for supporting Glasgow Afghan United office, and members to use a range of digital products and platforms to get the best out of life in Scotland. she/he will also be responsible for keeping the IT system of GAU up to date. This will include providing both one-to-one and group-based training and support for individuals and families to utilise the devices and interfaces needed for communication, education, employment and accessing local services. The Digital Officer will work with the Board of Trustees and Steering Group to plan and implement a range of activities. The successful candidate will also work with the Managing Director, Community Caseworker and Community Capacity Building Officer where appropriate to identify needs and deliver workshops and skill development training.
The Administrative Assistant will be responsible for providing support to ensure the efficient running of the charity. The successful candidate will carry out a range of tasks underpinning GAU’s work with Afghan people in Scotland and facilitating successful integration through education, skill-building, mental health and wellbeing, cultural and sporting activities in a culturally-sensitive manner.

The Health & Well-being officer will be responsible for providing Culturally sensitive Health and well-being sessions in a group and on one-to-one basis, and support Glasgow Afghan United’s Women’s Group. She[1] will work with the Board of Trustees and Steering Group to plan and implement a range of activities to increase the integration of Afghan women with other women and women’s groups in Glasgow.
The Women’s Project Coordinator will be responsible for the development and support to Glasgow Afghan United’s Women’s Group. She will work with the Board of Trustees and Steering Group to plan and implement a range of activities to increase the integration of Afghan women with other women and women’s groups in North Glasgow.
