Family Worker

Project Officer (Youth)

Participation & Engagement Manager

Project Officer (Highlands)

We are looking for a new Project Officer who will lead the OUT and About in the Highlands project. The project aims to increase LGBTIQ+ people’s engagement with sport and physical activity, improve mental wellbeing and develop social connectedness.

The Project Officer will work with a range of partners to improve relevant services and opportunities for LGBTIQ+ people, and will work directly with colleagues from University of Highlands and Islands (UHI) who will guide and support the learning of the project and ensure the work is informed by existing research in mental wellbeing and physical activity.

We have a new vacancy for a Project Officer who will be responsible for coordinating the participation of volunteers and activists within LEAP Sports and for ensuring that they are effectively supported, deployed and rewarded on their pathway.

Volunteers, community activists and equality in sport activists are central to the work of LEAP Sports; they far outnumber our staff team and contribute significantly to our work through a wide range of activities including: running events and community actions; supporting delivery of projects and groups; research, policy and advocacy; representing our work, promotion and dissemination; practical support tasks. We also have an established volunteer steering group, Volunteer Voice.

The successful candidate will:

• recognise and respect the place of volunteers and activists within LEAP Sports and be motivated towards their successful participation

• recruit, deploy and support volunteers, community activists and equality in sport activists

• develop learning and development routes

• ensure participation through supportingVolunteer Voice and undertaking targeted actions to involve marginalised communities and underrepresented geographic communities.

Trans Policy Officer

Could you be our first ever Trans Policy Officer? The Trans Policy Officer will work with the existing LEAP Sports team on key aspects of pathways, practice and policy to improve the inclusion and participation of trans people in sport, and to develop the confidence and skills of the sports sector to make this happen.

LEAP Sports works with trans people to ensure that it is their lived experience which is informing the data and learning we use in our policy and influencing work and to empower and support trans people to be directly involved in that work.

The successful candidate will:

• Work in partnership with trans people across Scotland to enable improved participation and engagement in sport and physical activity.

• Develop and contribute to evidence-based consultation responses, presentations and publications for a range of external stakeholders.

• Create engaging briefings and information for stakeholders to communicate our work.

• Identify and deliver on opportunities to influence sports policy.

• Represent our work externally including through meetings, conferences and seminars.
