The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Regimental and Museum Trusts are seeking a new CEO to manage their organisation, which includes a 5* rated military museum and a Nationally Significant Collection. Reporting to the Chairs and Trustees of the Regimental and Museum Trusts, the CEO will be principally responsible for:

· Managing the operation of the Regimental Museum in Stirling Castle in coordination with Historic Environment Scotland with whom the Museum Trust has a formal Partnership Agreement.

· Delivering the charitable objectives of the two Trusts in accordance with their Deeds of Trust and respective business plans.

· Acting as the focal point for the coordination of the activities of the two Trusts and liaison with the Regimental Association.

Reporting to the Chairmen of the Regimental and Museum Trusts you will be principally responsible for managing the operation of the Regimental Museum in Stirling Castle in partnership with Historic Environment Scotland, and for delivering the charitable objectives of the two Trusts in accordance with their Deeds of Trust and respective business plans.

To work with the Trustees to develop plans and policies and to lead the organisation, ensuring its sustainability into the future.

Main duties and responsibilities

• Manage the operation of The Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders Museum, and the partnership with Historic Environment Scotland, to deliver outstanding visitor satisfaction and enhance the Museum’s standing as a major tourist attraction.
• Undertake ongoing fundraising to support the Museum’s charitable activities.
• Manage the Museum staff so as to motivate them while abiding by all relevant HR policies and regulations.
• Assist the Trustees to provide effective governance of the Trusts by providing them with accurate and timely information as well as interfacing with regulators, auditors and other third parties
• Provide effective financial oversight and control of the Museum’s activities including budgeting, financial reporting and cash flow management.
• Preserve the Museum’s collection and it’s “Nationally Significant” status.
• Maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders (HES, National Heritage Lottery Fund, Office of the Scottish Charity Regulator), together with other relevant accreditation bodies such as Museums Galleries Scotland.
• Maintain effective working relationships with the Armed Forces and all Argyll veterans.

Essential Requirements:

The ideal candidate will be able to demonstrate experience in the following:

• An understanding of, and interest in the Museum/Heritage sector and the Armed Forces.
• Fundraising, preferably in the charity sector.
• Staff management and HR issues.
• Budget management and financial planning.
• Successfully managing relationships with third parties.
• Strategic thinking and problem solving.
• Well-developed communication skills including IT, literacy and numeracy.
• Ability to plan and lead meetings, minute-taking and the execution of decisions.
