We are seeking two experienced freelance community action researchers to support local stakeholders to use an assets-based approach to developing the local greenspace and variety of community initiatives led by Transition Edinburgh South such as Gracemount Community Garden, The Gracemount Mansion House and the Stable Block.
The successful candidate will help recruit and support team of volunteers to deliver action research and help deliver activities which will involve the wider community. This will:
• Support local people to increase their involvement in their community
• Allow local people an opportunity to have a full say in the development of the local greenspace, community garden, the Mansion House and Stable Bock
• Increase volunteering opportunities and events in Gracemount
• Increase participation of vulnerable groups
Transition Edinburgh South (founded in 2009) has been based in the Gracemount community since 2013 and currently runs Gracemount Community Garden. We are looking to further develop the local greenspace and support vulnerable local families and individuals to improve local facilities whilst creating a more sustainable environment.
This is a new and exciting project being run by Transition Edinburgh South in partnership with The Department of Social Responsibility and Sustainability of The University of Edinburgh.
