Drama Youth Worker x 2

Job Role

We are looking for two dynamic and driven people to join our staff team and take up the posts of Drama Youth Workers for our acclaimed and award winning project The Street (14 – 18yrs olds) and our Junior Street (11 – 13yr olds). We use immersive theatre and facilitated workshops to provide a consequential learning experience on issues that affect young people today.

The project takes Youth Work and Drama to the next level and is the only one of it’s kind the UK. Our programme runs over 52 weeks with recruited Cast & Crew performing live twice weekly between October to March. We also do one-off live events at conferences across Scotland and work in schools.

The post holder’s key role will be to enthuse, motivate and train young people in all things drama related.

You will help the Youth Support Worker recruit targeted young people who are hard to reach and may be experiencing multiple challenges in their lives. Your responsibilities will also include development of the set and co-ordination of all live performances.

Preferably the successful applicant can demonstrate experience of working with young people using drama as a method of making a difference to people’s lives. Youth Work experience would also be an advantage. A strong portfolio is desirable.

Youth Support Worker (Junior Street)

We need a committed individual with a proven track record in improving the lives of young people for our Junior Street Project (predominately 11 – 13yr olds with some 14yr plus volunteers). We use youth work, immersive theatre and facilitated workshops as a process to provide consequential learning experiences on issues that affect young people today.

The project blends youth work & drama in a very unique way and is the only one of it’s kind the UK. The service is for young people who are experiencing challenges in their lives. Every year between October - March participants perform live weekly to their peers, practioners, friends & family raising awareness of the difficulties they face. We also work in schools, provide one-off live performances at events & conferences across Scotland.

The Youth Support Worker will ensure the recruitment and referral process is accessible to all partners and young people in the target groups; provide 1 to 1 support to participants, co-ordinate the overall programme, recruit, train and support volunteers. You will be assisted by the part-time Drama Worker.

We need a dynamic person with a true passion for working with young people who will fit in with our small team and can drive the project forward ensuring the best outcomes for your young people.

You must be able to demonstrate your ability to making a difference to people’s lives. Youth Work track record is advantageous.

Driving licence and access to a car is essential.
