Midlothian Young Peoples Advice Service (MYPAS) promotes the health and wellbeing of young people across East Lothian and Midlothian and currently focuses on working in the areas of mental health and substance use. MYPAS is a community-based organisation with charitable status and based in Dalkeith.

The postholders will be responsible for providing counselling with children and young people aged 10-18 attending school or living within Midlothian. The postholders will deliver, evaluate and report on the School Counselling service within the specific geographical location comprising several primary schools and usually one associated High School.

Qualified to MSc/Diploma level in a counselling therapeutic discipline, a member of a recognised professional body (e.g. BACP, COSCA) and have experience of working with children and young people, you will also be committed to delivering a service according to best practice and within community settings.

The postholders will work within a multi-disciplinary environment, working effectively with other agencies, especially schools, in partnership settings.

MYPAS has successfully delivered the pilot project and subsequently won a competitive tender to continue delivery of school counselling in Midlothian on behalf of the local authority. Contracts will be offered for the term of the current contract, currently 2 years and may be extended, depending on the success of future procurement processes.

Full-time applications are preferred but part-time work may be considered for these positions depending on service deployment considerations. In addition to two full-time positions, there is one post offered at 17.5 hours a week.

The postholder will be responsible for providing counselling with children and young people aged 10-18 who attend school. The postholder will establish, develop, evaluate and report on, the piloting of the School Counselling service within the specific High School cluster.

Qualified to MSC/Diploma level in a counselling therapeutic discipline, a member of a recognised professional body (e.g. BACP, COSCA) and have experience of working with children and young people, you will also be committed to delivering a service according to best practice and within community settings.

MYPAS has been successful in applying for a contract to deliver a School Counselling service across Midlothian’s schools. There is potential to extend the contract. Fundraising and Communications Assistant

As we approach 2022, MYPAS requires the support of a full-time Fundraising and Communications Assistant to help build capacity in the core team and support key project areas. This is a fixed term contract of 1 year with the potential to extend beyond this, funding permitting.

Role

The successful candidate will provide assistance and support to the MYPAS Business Development Manager across the following:

· Assist with all aspects of fundraising including fundraising events, funder-related research, data entry and donor relations.

· Provide support with aspects of internal and external communications including maintaining and updating MYPAS social media and website (Wordpress).

· Provide generalised and project specific administrative and research support as required.

MYPAS is a well-established localised charity, providing a range of services for children and young people aged 10-21 in Midlothian and East Lothian that supports their health and wellbeing. Our work currently focuses on the areas of mental health, substance use and LGBT+ support.
