Adult Carers Support & Development Worker

Glasgow East End Community Carers has been providing support to unpaid carers across the East End of Glasgow for nearly 30 years. We are looking for an Adult Carer Support & Development Worker to join our small, energetic team.

Our Carers Hub supports unpaid carers who are looking after a family member, partner or friend who cannot cope alone due to illness, disability, frailty or substance/alcohol misuse or addiction.

Our service is based on building and sustaining a ‘carers community’, placing carers as equal partners and working creatively to ensure their needs and opinions shape our services. We focus on providing early intervention and ongoing support that recognises carers’ changing circumstances and evolving needs throughout their caring journey. Our services empower carers by providing information, tools and resources to improve wellbeing, facilitate positive long-term change and ensure carers are able to continue in their role, without detriment to their own health and wellbeing for as long as is appropriate.

We are looking for an emotionally intelligent worker who is a solutions-focused team player and committed to improving the lives of carers and those they care for. You must be flexible and open to providing a service that evolves with need, have excellent communication skills and the ability to build trusting, non-judgemental, relationships with adults and children with a broad range of life experiences.

The successful candidate will have previous experience in a similar role, understand the challenges faced by unpaid carers and be able to work with a broad range of adult carer groups including;

• Parent carers

• Parents of adults with disabilities/additional needs

• Male carers

• Dementia and older carers

• Autism carers

• Young adult carers

Glasgow East End Community Carers has been providing practical and emotional support to unpaid carers across the East End of Glasgow for nearly 30 years. We are looking for an Administrator to increase capacity in our small, dedicated, staff team.

Our Carers Hub supports unpaid carers who are looking after a family member, partner or friend who cannot cope alone due to illness, disability, frailty or substance/alcohol misuse or addiction.

We are looking for a highly organised, practical and pro-active team member with solid IT and social media skills. You must be able to form trusting, non-judgemental relationships with colleagues and service users of all ages, and understand the importance of confidentiality and GDPR. You must be flexible and open to providing a service that evolves with need, have excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
